Cacophony Villa

It’s been three weeks since my err...accident and the finger has healed well. The recuperation period was a memorable time and it was nice to show the finger to all and sundry and get away with it. Jokes abounded in the office about the origin of the injury, which I dismissed as the ramblings of very sick and perverted minds. But I now look at my colleagues with a new disrespect.

According to my bro, it would have healed faster if I had let him bang it with a hammer. I told him that I would definitely try it out as long as I can do the same with his head. Sadly he declined.

Anyways this whole experience bought home the fact rather forcefully that I have such a wonderful and supportive family...when we are not bickering. In fact we are so perfect that we should be bronzed err...strike that out. That would be painful. But the fact is that we are a picture perfect family in every sense of the word. See for yourself!

A family that prays together stays together.

Dad: Jesus Christ!!! Look at the Sensex today!!
Mom: Ente daivame!! The price of fish these days is atrocious!!
Second bro M: O M G!!! Look at that babe err I mean Sania Mirza.
Eldest bro G: For the love of God has anyone seen my black and white striped shirt?
Me: Holy Mother of God I am late again!!!!!

A family that eats together stays together.

Dad: *ugh* sambhar again?
M: *ugh* pavakkai!!
Me: pavakkai!! Yumm!
G: Has anyone seen my black formal pants?
Mom: People who do not like the food cooked here can eat at the Darshini down the road hmmph!

A family that plays together stays together.

Dad: Ace! I win again!
M: Not so fast, I finished before you.
Me: He cheated achcha. I saw him keeping some cards under his legs.
G: Has anyone seen my shoes I picked up from Singapore?
Me: If I knew how to cheat I would win too! :(
Mom: Why can’t we play without cheating like other families!!!

A family that talks together stays together.

Dad: I think tax exemption limit may be raised in the budget!
Mom: I heard Mariamma’s third daughter is getting married to James second son.
M: Wowie!! Look at those err I mean Maria Sharapova plays well.
Me: I am going to shave my head and then elope with Laloo Prasad Yadav!!
G (plaintively): Has anyone seen my black tie?
M: For gods sake stop whining. You will find your stuff in my cupboard.
Me: See!! I knew it!! No one listens to me !
G: *whew* Thank you! I was afraid I left it behind at the hotel!
M: And don’t mess up my cupboard*!!!

* Something so messed up that even God cannot make it worse.

And so what was I saying!? Something about us being the picture perfect family …yeah sure...if the picture was made by a spastic color blind bat! :)

Have a nice week everyone!

and they lived happily for ever and ever..;-P

i love your family post the most!!:-)

I can very well identify with several incidents like me being the sole fan of pavakka at home ..and Mom blaming Dad during card games..and usual excuse when close to defeat..'adakkallyil ennikku korachu pani ondu'

Your family is a indian version of Frasier mixed with Simpsons!! ;-P

It is not paavakai : it is paavaikya!! These young girls and their spellings. hmph!
P.S: I'm a fan too - BIG one! :0)

Newfound disrespect, eh? I hope you showed them the right finger.

From chaos comes anarchy, which explains the blendered finger in the first place.

You could have had a perfect family. One that does everything together. One that does NOT fight about anything. One that is as 'clean and wholesome' as the Brady Bunch.

But what's the fun in that? Really? Would you really want to live in a world where G does not ask about a random piece of clothing to a bunch of rambling, but loving family members?

Of course, it would have been fun if they faint everytime you blurt out an intention of eloping with the dashing Laloo, but that's a small price to pay for the privilege of petty fights. Besides, I'm sure they are wise to some of your tricks. Try a new stunt and see if they jump on the table and hop around in raging fury.

And of course... blog about it later.

A few salient points catch my attention:

The recuperation period was a memorable time and it was nice to show the finger to all and sundry and get away with it.

I love it!!! How simple to give people the finger...

Person: I heard you hurt yourself?

Silverine:*U* Y****!*

Me: pavakkai!! Yumm!

*same pinch* We are a rare breed!

Me: I am going to shave my head and then elope with Laloo Prasad Yadav!!

Can you make it a mohawk like the mohicans and dye it red and purple??? Please...please. I want to see how it looks before I try myself.

mathew: Thank you :)
"adakkallyil ennikku korachu pani ondu'" That sound soo familiar :p

iceman: Yumm indeed!

Balu: M gets away with a lot I do agree especially since G is such a paavam :)

Bleak: :)

toothless wonder: I was using the Blr pronunciation, but thanks for the spelling anyways. Will use it next time ;)

hammy: You are right. I guess I will die of sheer boredom if we were like the Brady bunch :)

AP: Ah...I can see the likeness :)

MC: Thanks :) The finger is fine though I miss holding it up to people :p

deepti: Thank you :) You mean Rabri will actually come after me? I though she would say "good riddance" lol

Safari: High five dude!! And for that I will try and get a mohawk cut and dye it red and purple. Now if only I can locate Hammy's barber :p

haha...wow so many scenes i can relate to!

paavakka...isnt that a recurring theme everywhere. i remember a forlorn shape from many years back staring at a glass of pavakka juice...that was my dad. paavakka thorrans were a no-no, we all compromised on having pavakka varathathe until mom found it carried too much oil, now we have paavakka onakkiyathe...and thats the best!

haha cards...my mom was and is the big cheat...dad never plays and is like "this is not a game for educated people"...and we will all say in one voice, "yeah we are all a little less educated than you!"

superb post.

lol! dat's what makes it picture perfect!

Please tell us the jokes about "the origin of the injury". Meanwhile, nice to know your finger is fully functional again.

Looks like your family does everything together. Now just include a part about blogging, and you are the perfect family.

Why is shaving your head and eloping with LPY connected?

pavakka is yuck for me like M :)

except may be pavakka fry ....

Card games ...kazhutha that used to be the main game....with very similar situations..... :)

Karthik said...

That cards game reminded me of the times at CET when our batch used to gather at the Acacia forests (Cutting classes) to play "Cheettu" with cheating of course..First time i got introduced to the words "Thuruppu" and "Gulan" ;-)

Safari al: Laloo willing I shall :p

Jo: Thanks buddy :)

Jiby: lol!! What a relief to know we are not the only madcap family I thought we were :p My mom doesn't have a crooked bone in her body. But my bro is a cheat through and through! :) Both me and Dad are huge paavaikya fans!

Poison: Thank you!! :p

BVN: They should!! :)

Amey: That was just to get some attention :)

AP: Looks like every family cheats in card games. I owe my bro a billion rupees (acco to him) in money which I am refusing to pay (not that I have it) because I tell him that even if he doesn't cheat no one will believe him :)

Karthik: I have heard a lot about those Acacia forests and the activities that happens there:)

safari al: I am afraid it is still wandering in vagueness :(

neena: :)

pixilicious: Thank you :)

Safari Al said...

What do you mean laloo willing???

Is laloo's barber and hammy's barber the same person?

If so then why he is not trimming laloo's ear hair?

Yes it is kind of inchoate now. I have frozen it and i am going to clean things up and put them up nicely on a new blog. Will send you link asap.

Aww...how did you forget this....

Otherwise there will be clashes there too

Haha! I would gladly trade families with you!

Mine pull hair and bite, and throw themselves on the ground like big babies.

OK, just I do that, but my husband and kids deserve it!! :p

nishanth: Thank you and this was not thought out but a regular scene at home :)

safari al: Laloo has to be willing to elope with me na :( He is hot property of gals these days! :((

burf: Hey liked that small post of yours :p

Om: Thank you :) G's clothes always migrate mysteriously to M's cupboard. Of course he feigns innocence. So we think they just walk to his cupboard by themselves :p

amey: :)

Iyer: :p

cynic: Ah! Then you must be a very sweet person :)

scorpiogenius: I think paavakai is an acquired taste. As you can see, equal number of paavakai lovers and haters here :)

badri : Call them :)

Zahid: Thank god, no such scene in the house :)

theoffendedblogger: Thanks for dropping by. I think you are one of the funniest gal bloggers I have come across in recent times and I am enjoying going thru your archives now :)
