Close Shave!
One of my most enduring and endearing memories of Goa.This is a mobile cam image of a board outside a barber shop on Baga Beach Road. I was ROFL after seeing this.I particularly liked the logo i.e. the shaving blade with the legend 'Close Shave' emblazoned across.You can see many such hilarious boards and notices if you look around.

@alexis: This was a board outside a shack that was the barber shop. When you go past rural India you find many such examples of 'rural creativity'. I saw a board outside a bar that said "Family Bar". Guess they serve bada pegs for the parents and chota pegs for the kids lol
And "Hotel Hot Chicken" and "Hotel Hot Kitchen" in Ooty. Another board I saw in Coorg said "elephants not allowed inside". This board was outside an enclosure where two giant elephants made of clay were displayed. What the board was trying to say was that visitors were not allowed inside the display enclosure. lol
It is recently that I started taking pictures of these boards and notices.
Good one...I have endearing memories of Goa too...went there as a part of our all india tour this september. But en-tearing to the wallet as well...booze is much more cheaper than food ;-D
heh! tht was close... wonder if the barber-ian gets ne customers other than suicide crazies n thrill seekers..

And the rural restaurants with a rice place a live chicken alongside. Don't ti look lik ethe chicken will eat the rice or walk across the plate...

the roadside notice boards in rural India is total rofl scene..it can make an otherwise boring journey a laughter therapy :)

@Sushil: This is a 100 yards away from the Subway Restaurant towards th beach on Baga Beach Road. You do look like you need a close shave lol
@Anthony:I once saw a garishly painted board of a gigantic Hen taller than a tree for a Poultry Feed advertisement :)) A mile down the road the same hen appears on a Restaurant Board ( same painter I guess)announcing :"chicken biryani available" . This is what we call "Celebrity Endorsement"lol

UR KEEN OBSERVATION IS AMAZING DEAR...As rockus said booze is cheaper at goa than the food...som arnd 50 shops within a kilometer...we landed there at goa in a disappointing climate...rain rain everywhere...so goa memories are not tht gud for me...but a single doubt!!!is goa tht gr8...better than our GODS OWN COUNTRY???

Another similiar notice was up on another bus that was ahead of ours on our way to mumbai a few years back. That read:
"ONE FAMILY, ONE CHILED"
hahaha .. they want to have one chilled :)

In Kerala, there is a Pen Hospital, which has nothing to do with healthcare or pens - but is a watch repair shop. And highway boards with the warning "Becautious - Hump Ahead" :)

btw i remmbr there was a campaign to prevent more than 3 passengers in an auto in Mumbai . So i saw an auto behind which there was a line "Only 3 pass". That was ok but on the right it was written "Jesus never fails !!"

Amazing! Damned funny now that you have pointed it out,I will definitely look out for these signs.I have seen so many and passed them by, sometimes sneering at the bad English.
