The rise, fall and rise from grace!

"You are so pretty Anjali..." said my 4 year old nephew looking at me with adoration in his eyes.

"Why thank you sweets!!!" I said blushing a little, absolutely blown off my feet!

"...just like Srikrishnan" he finished!

The fall from grace was sudden...and very painful. The resounding *THUD* echoed through the house. I was devastated.

Srikrishanan is the ugly old, wizened, rheumy eyed gardener in his house. *sob*

His parents hastened to explain that he absolutely adores Srikrishnan and this was his way of paying me the ultimate compliment.

I am recovering from the fall now...slowly. My ego was terribly hurt though and is in critical condition and battling for life. Something tells me it wont make it through the night! My self esteem is already dead!

R.I.P my Self Esteem.

Happy New Year folks! This is my 250th post. Dedicating it to my nephew Noel! :)

Awww... kids are chooo cuuuute.. :)

And the best part is that, kids dont judge our beauty by our looks, but rather by our character and personality... and the fact that ur nephew compared u with a person whom he likes very much says it all!!! :)

Out of the Mouth of Babes...

You have just been declared a beautiful person. Happy New Year dear! :-)

Guess who? ;-)

You can be assured it was a compliment :) Kids have their ways with words, lol! And wanderlust has given a new depth and meaning to that lovely remark too :)

Happy New year :) Best wishes of the season too!

Reminds me of the guy who mugged up the line, "When I see your face, time stands still" to woo his new girlfriend. When he actually meets her, he is so nervous that he forgets his prepared line and blurts out: " You have a face that will stop a clock!"

Like our hapless lover above, I'm sure your nephew meant well!

Have a great 2009!

usually kids are brats disguised as angels... but getting such an honest compliment from a kid is 'the' ultimate compliment// :-> no matter who they compare u with....and it did bring about a small chuckle... ;-> hehe.. wishing u a year filled with compliments.

Happy new year! I thought its Srikrishnan of the Mahabharatha serial. Was trying to picture you like that since then.

Talk about being "blown off" your feet ;) I am imagining (like in cartoons) your shoes standing up with smoke curling out of them.

Heppy Nu Ear!!!

Happy New Year, Anjs...

Maybe it will take time to reach my stage... when every compliment is looked at with suspicion...

"Hey, Hamish. Nice drawing."
"Go on, say it... Nice drawing... to belch in.. eh?"
"Eh? No. I mean. I'm just saying it's nice"
"Oh? All of a sudden it's nice now, eh?"
"Dude! What's your problem? I'm outta here"

Funnily enough, I don't receive that many compliments these days... Wonder why.

Hey

I exhausted my reader posts today and looked to Google Reader's recommendations.

I am glad to have chanced upon your blog. Will browse other top-rated posts now.

This post reminds me of an incident from my childhood. My sister and I (around 3 years old) were quite close friends with the neighbour's dog Shampy. Once they dropped in at our place. And when asked whether we recognized them, I squealed "Yes! Ye to Shampy ki Mummy hain". Apparently she didn't take that as a compliment either :)
